April 5 – May 4, 2026
With the arrival of the Water Dragon month—Ren Chen (壬辰)—a long-awaited shift in the energetic climate of 2026 begins to unfold.
So far, this year has been dominated by the intense heat and volatility of the Fire Horse Year where extreme Fire energy has created pressure, acceleration, and instability across many systems.
The Water Dragon brings something that has been noticeably missing.
Water.
And with it, the possibility of flow returning—at least for a moment.
The Image of the Water Dragon
The imagery of the Water Dragon pillar is striking and powerful.
Imagine a mighty river flowing atop a mountain, gathering strength and force before cascading downward as a magnificent waterfall.
Picture a beautiful waterfall pouring down a majestic mountain face, carrying with it the essence of life itself. From the heights it gathers momentum, flowing steadily downward, nourishing everything in its path.
This is the essence of Ren Chen (壬辰).
Movement.
Circulation.
Release.
After months of energetic dryness and pressure, the Water Dragon arrives like a cooling rain after a long drought.
⸻
A Temporary Return of Water
April and May bring a temporary return of much-needed Water Qi.
This creates a moment to:
• Breathe
• Recalibrate
• Regain perspective
• Prepare for what comes next
But this is important to understand:
This is not the resolution of the year’s pressures.
It is the pause before acceleration, which intensifies again as the Fire season rises in June.
Think of this period as a brief window of movement between two waves of intensity.
⸻
The Effects of Missing Water

The energetic imbalance of the year—especially the absence of Water in the annual BaZi Chart —has already manifested in very tangible ways.
When Water is missing, flow is disrupted.
Friction increases.
Systems begin to strain.
This often shows up in the physical world through pressure on the very systems that keep life moving smoothly, including:
• Oil and energy resources
• Fuel supplies
• Transportation systems
• Supply chains and logistics
Without Water to regulate the excessive Fire, the world can begin to feel overheated—both literally and metaphorically.
We see this reflected through:
• Heightened emotions
• Rapid or impulsive decision making
• Sudden eruptions of conflict
• Increasing geopolitical tensions and War
It can feel as though the world is moving faster than it can sustainably support.
⸻
Economic Reflection of the Elements
From a classical metaphysical perspective, the excessive Fire also weakens Metal.
In the real world, Metal often symbolizes financial structures, currencies, and systems of value.
When Fire overwhelms Metal, it can manifest as:
• Economic instability
• Currency pressure
• Inflation cycles
• Recessionary signals
• Weakening confidence in established financial structures
Even traditionally stable stores of value can experience unusual volatility during these energetic cycles.
⸻
Movement Begins to Return
The arrival of the Water Dragon begins to loosen what previously felt stuck.
Decisions that had stalled may begin to move forward.
Situations that felt stagnant may begin to shift.

At the exact moment I was writing this blog, President Trump agress to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, conditional on them "agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz." - White House, Tuesday, April 7th just before the 8:00 PM deadline where Trump was going to "bomb Iran back into the Stone Ages" if they did not open the Straight of Hormuz.
This is exactly what I was referring to - the power of the Water to control the excessive Fire and give the world a moment of repreive.
The Dow Futures have already jumped 900 points, and oil prices tumble .
Intersing to note this is what many are calling TACO TUESDAY, an acronym for "Trump chickens out again." :)
The return of Water introduces momentum and circulation, allowing movement to resume where pressure had previously built. While temporary, this window offers an opportunity to realign, reposition, and act with clarity.

The Water Dragon month is a transition time between the Season of Wood, which is associated with growth, expansion, and learning, into the Season of Fire, whose themse incude visibilty, passion, transformation, and change. The Dragon month is known as the Graveyard of the Season of Wood and the Storage of Water
The Dragon: Earth Sign and Elemental Storage
The Dragon occupies a special role within the Earth branch signs of Chinese metaphysics.
It is one of the Four Earth signs, along with:
• Ox
• Dog
• Goat
These Earth branches are known as storage signs. Each Earth sign contains and stores another element—a place where that element temporarily rests or “goes to sleep.”
The Dragon specifically is known as the storage of Water. This creates an interesting dynamic.
While Water is technically stored within the Dragon, the Yang Water (Ren 壬) that appears in the heavenly stem represents the strongest form of water:
• Oceans
• Great rivers
• Powerful waterfalls
This form of Water does not want to be contained.
Instead of going quietly into storage, Yang Water tends to roam freely, pushing against the Yang Earth that attempts to hold it.
This creates a quality within the Water Dragon that feels restless, powerful, and rebellious.
⸻
A Chief General Pillar
The Ren Chen (壬辰) pillar holds a special distinction within the classical 60 Pillars of BaZi.
It belongs to a rare category known as Chief General pillars, and is also associated with the Fui Kong (Bright Star) classification.
These pillars carry a unique energetic quality:
• Sovereign autonomy
• Strategic leadership
• Strong personal will
• The courage to direct the course of events
This is the energy of someone who steps forward when leadership is required.
It brings determination, resilience, and the ability to move forward even when the path is uncertain.
⸻
The Courage to Take the Leap
The Water Dragon month invites a powerful internal question:
Where are you being called to step forward?
This energy supports:
• Taking decisive action
• Standing in personal authority
• Leading rather than waiting
• Embracing bold transitions
It carries the spirit of a general standing at the front of the battlefield, fully aware of the risks but willing to move forward anyway.
Sometimes the moment calls not for certainty—but for courage.
And the Water Dragon brings exactly the kind of strength needed to take a leap of faith.
⸻
The Deeper Message of the Water Dragon
The waterfall imagery tells the real story of this month.
Water does not resist gravity.
It moves with purpose and inevitability.
It flows where it must, shaping landscapes over time through persistence and power.
The Water Dragon month reminds us that even in years dominated by intense Fire and volatility, flow eventually returns.
And when it does, the opportunity appears to move with the current rather than against it.
For a brief moment between seasons, the world exhales.
Use this time wisely.
Things are moving again.
Not perfectly. Not instantly.
But meaningfully.
Trust the movement.
Trust what is being revealed.
And most importantly—work with the energy, not against it.
