July: the month of the water goat, the graveyard of fire

Updated: 2 days ago

The Yin Water Goat Month: Gui Wei: July 7 - August 7

The Water Goat Month, Gui Wei,  began on Monday, July 7, marking a significant turning point in this transformative Snake Year.

As we approach the second half of the year and transition toward autumn, the energies of the season shift in subtle yet powerful ways. The Water Goat pillar represents a serene oasis in a dry desert, a refreshing coolness amidst the summer heat. It's a symbol of renewal and respite, offering the perfect chance to restore ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. As one of the ten spiritual pillars in Chinese astrology, this period invites a deeper connection to spiritual replenishment, elevating the metaphor of refreshment to include wisdom and clarity.

Now is an ideal time to nurture your mind, which is constantly bombarded with news and distractions, and your body, which craves the slower, more laid-back energy of summer. But perhaps most importantly, it's a moment to nourish your spirit. Spiritual nourishment provides perspective, helping you navigate the intense and fiery energies of the times.

In Chinese astrology, the Goat is  one of the four Earth or ‘Graveyard’ signs, the transition time between seasons. The Goat represents quietude and stillness. It’s not about death, but rather about the restful, contemplative energy of the graveyard—a space for retreat and reflection. This month is a perfect time to pull back from social engagements and carve out time for solitude.

On July 7th, the Water Goat Month,  commences, signaling a shift from the intense peak of the Fire season. As the fiery energy begins to soften, we see a subtle transition from Yang to Yin, and the vibrant Fire Qi becomes dormant within the Goat's energy. This marks a time of balance, of finding stillness after the heat of the Fire season.

Many of you may be experiencing deep transitions and challenges right now. I hear it from my clients and students alike, in conversations, see it in social media posts, and feel it in the energy around us. Now more than ever, I encourage you to find moments of stillness each day. Calm your nervous system, seek divine guidance, and prepare yourself to receive the new Qi. The Water Goat month offers an opportunity to reset and align with the energies that will carry us through the rest of the year.

The Quiet Power of Gui WaterThe Goat brings to the surface a quiet yet crucial element — Gui Water (Yin Water). At the height of summer’s intense Fire energy, this small, subtle seed becomes the most vital force. It’s like the breath of air above the volcanic heat. Gui Water represents wisdom, vitality, and flow — and in this month, where Earth energy is compressed and Fire reaches its peak, this Water becomes the essential catalyst for profound transformation.

Lets look at the Flying Star's energies for the Month of the Water Goat

Flying Stars is a traditional school of Feng Shui. The Flying Stars are energies, some positive and some negative that move around the space periodically. Enhanced, these energies can bring abundance, health and happiness or wreak havoc on our lives if left unremedied. Following the Flying Stars helps us stay one step ahead of luck and manage change.

Every month the energies, called the Flying Stars, get redistributed. The BEST places to be in your home or office this month are: South, and East

Where NOT to be this month Southeast, and Northeast

*This month do ensure the South East and Northeast areas of your home of office remains calm, as the combination of the misfortune Star #5 Misfortune Star arrives where Star #1 already resides for the year. These areas are tough to control if activated.

South East - Dragon and Snake, Gua- 4

1-5

Let’s start with the challenges this month. With the 1-5 combination, the Earth is countering the Water. This suggests health issues might surface, especially for the eldest or only daughter in the household, or anyone who has their bedroom in the Southeast sector. There are going to be hurdles along the way. Leadership in crisis. Fortune favors steady steps, as things can change quickly. Move mindfully.

*Place pure Metal in this area to drain the negative Star 5.

South - Horse, Kua-9

6-1

With the monthly 6 arriving with the annual 1, this forms a beautiful He-Tu combination brings Nobel people, as well as good fortune for those wanting to start a business, and networking. A Fire palace, brings discipline, yet be careful of over exerting your influence with people in higher places. With clear goals, and preparing ahead of time, be sincere and stay centered. A promotion or recognition for your hard work is a real possiblity, espcially for those with their main door, or office in the South sector.

East - Rabbit, Gua- 3

9-4

A perfect sector to learn and study something new. Another He-tu combination, brings success, especially in academic luck. Children or anyone studying for exams should study here, bringing success and good fortune, as well as success in business and career. Wood is the energy of growth and the He-Tu combo helps one be more concise, making strong decisions. Wood/Fire brilliance.

South West - Sheep and Monkey, Gua- 2

8-3

With another He-Tu combination, this represents leadership, which gives you the courage to lead, creating slow and study progress. Plan accordingly. A good palace to grow. The Mother is giving resources to the oldest son, Star 3. Humility, precision, and small steps lead to wins. Power flows to those who yield, not chasing after it.

North - Rat, Gua 1

2-7

With Star 7 as the Robbery Star and Star 2 as the "sickness" Star but turning positive into an asset and accumulation Star, these are two inauspicious Stars at first glance. However they form another He-Tu combination, making it a perfect time to nourish your market, attracting opportunities to create wealth. Even when all looks perfect, don't skip the backup plan. Complacency can turn smooth sails into sudden storms.

West - Rooster, Gua 7

8-4

Those who occupy this sector or have their main door here, can enjoy a combination of wealth and romance. What could be better? Big journeys need bold steps. A time for networking, and solid preparation, will turn risks into great rewards.

North West - Dog and Pig, Gua- 6

3-7

3 plus 7 = the sum of 10. This combination brings wealth and completion, but as both stars are relatively negative in Period 9, there could be more pressure and aggression. To resolve these possible issues, make sure to communicate clearly, and with integrity,

North East - Ox and Tiger, Gua - 8

5-9

This sector is one of the least favorable sectors with Star 5, the calamity Earth star which is strengthened by the visiting Star 9, making the effects of Star 5 much worse. Health issues, wealth loss and relationship issues are all problems that can arise. Try to avoid this area altogether this month. If you can't, make sure to keep it quiet and noise free.
